    Try some bleeding heart with those V. Bluebells. By the time the bluebells begin to senesce, the bleeding heart foliage will be tall enough to hide the bluebells. Be patient. It will take 3 years for the bleeding heart to mature and grow large enough.

  • Another plant you can try is Datura (it’s a trumpet lily — mine is white). It has a tap root, so you might want to be sure you have it where you really want it. After a couple of years, mine is now 5′ tall and 4′ wide every year and still growing. Definitely needs to be staked. However, it usually doesn’t emerge until mid June here in Ohio, but blooms into late September. Loves good composted soil!
